CITIES in the Fog
"To be in life, rosemary, Rosemary that only knows to grow on virgin paths ...That our feet not follow trodden ground… So that we never pray a preacher’s prayer, nor repeat the verses of an aged minstrel.”
Like the rosemary in León Felipe’s poem, Gonzalo Ortiz's nomadic soul leads him to seek the filtering light through hazy cityscapes: New York, Milan, Siena or Venice.
“Never sing the life of one town, nor the flower of an orchard. May all the towns and orchards be ours.”
The spectator is invited to follow this poetic traveler in the pursuit of unveiling each city’s soul as it peeks through the engulfing fog. From the eclectic vitality of New York, defying its grey invader, to the ghostly nooks of the past in Siena or Venice, where the mist evokes the presence of Dante, Othello or other characters that once wandered through its streets.
