GONZALO ORTIZ AT A GLANCE
Ever since his father first put a camera in his hands and taught him the basics of this art and its science, photography has been the main focal point of Gonzalo Ortiz's artistic and professional career. Ultimately, it has defined his way of life.
His work covers a variety of genres, such as travel or jazz photography, and his photographs are published in numerous specialized magazines, where he is also an active collaborator. Furthermore, Gonzalo Ortiz has participated in different art shows including individual photography exhibits.
Ortiz’s career includes an intense professional activity in technical photography, thus his scientific growth has greatly enriched his artistic work technique. One can highlight his refined processing in artisanal printing on barite paper and in the use of large formats.
The opening of his own studio, FOTOGRABESA, allowed him to develop his full creative potential resulting in two of his most emblematic collections: Cities in the Fog and Light Planes. These series of contrasting themes, styles and techniques approach different venues to discover and uncover a same constant: the nuances of light. For it is light, the guiding obsession of this photographer.
On a different level, Gonzalo Ortiz also engages viewers that are not prone to enter an art gallery, through social media. Photo series such as Urban Still Lifes or Graphics display an alternative viewpoint and unleash a different artistic sensibility of the artist.
Regardless of your approach to this photographer’s work, viewing Gonzalo Ortiz’s images will reveal the essence of the artist himself. He and his photography are one.
